Verbena, Rosso di Montalcino 2020

Verbena is a stunning, very traditional winery located in the heart of Montalcino. South-facing slopes of the rolling Tuscan countryside provide the perfect setting for producing the exceptional Sangiovese Grosso grape for which the region is best known. Rosso di Montalcino 2020 is taken from the estate's younger Sangiovese Grosso vines; with the older vines being left for the Brunello di Montalcino wine. Nevertheless, 2020 was a stunning vintage for Rosso di Montalcino across the region and Verbena's is no different. Notes of sour cherry, strawberry and tobacco. Medium-bodied and well-rounded tannins make it a supremely food-friendly wine, which for us goes best with a Sunday roast.
